This was my first time travelling. My first time being exposed to one of the many places from a country my mum, uncles and aunties originated from. My first time actually being pulled out of my comfort zone and put in a land that is alien to me. Everywhere I went people of all ages looked at me, especially since I had my handy Fujifilm x100 out.
We stayed in the country side of Hue. At night we were swarmed by mosquitos in our sleep and awoke to the sight of bites throughout our body even when we had our mosquito net set up. During the day the country side was rather quite except for the sounds of bikes, cars and trucks zooming by with their horns blaring. Whilst travelling, transportation can often be a problem due to the expenses one may have to sacrifice to get around. For us that was not a problem. We had our own private driver whilst in Hue as he conveniently lived directly across where we were staying and made our experience in Vietnam so much easier and better. Plus, it was Vietnam. Everything there is not too expensive. I was at Hue for five days and visited villages, markets, ancient and historical sites and lastly the city which we drove to every night.
Travelling to Vietnam presented me with insight into the everyday lives of the Vietnamese culture whilst presenting me with an opportunity to finally use my Fujifilm x100 that is, to tell a story from start to finish. As a photo editor for Sutoritera, I have been exposed to many images that story-tell an event of a day, such as a wedding. I have been through hundreds of photos containing details of the wedding day such as rings, perfumes, presents, flowers and scenery shots of where the ceremony was going to take place. And so my goal today is not to tell what Vietnam is like, but to show you the beauty of it through a compilation of photos taken throughout my five day stay.
